A Merry Christmas to one and all!
Here's a look at the Xmas tree for this year. =)
(There's a nice amount of presents are under it.)
Wow, it seems like the year has just zipped by and now it's coming to an end soon.
Its sure feels fast to me.
I love Christmas. Its my favourite holiday since I was a kid.
But strangly, this year doesn't feel very 'Christmasy' to me.
Maybe its coz my sis and D are not around.
A quiet Christmas for me this year.
Oh wow.... Christmas is right around the corner! Its a week away! And the crazed yearly Christmas shopping routine is in full swing in all malls around the island! The shops are staying open till midnight to meet the demands of the crazed, frenzied buying of presents. Little gift items and gift boxes are flying off the shelves. Everyone has to get gifts for the people in office, for gift exchange, for friends and family, etc....
I generally like the spirit of Christmas. This nice cheery holiday feel in the air.
But what I really hate is the shopping with the crowds.
I don't know if this happens to you too, but every year, I tell myself, "This year, I will shop early so I will not get caught with the last minute frantic shoppers." And looky at me, I'm still doing my Christmas shopping! Aaaa..... I was still in Orchard Road today wondering what to get for who! When will I ever learn!?
All this crazed shoppers, plus bell ringing and store pipped Christmas carols plus the brainstorming of what to get always rewards me with a nice big headache at the end of the day. And to make matters worse, I have to go through it again coz I've still got some more on my list to get for!
*Makes a mental note: Next year... next year I will shop early so I will not get caught with the last minute frantic shoppers.
~Baking in the oven!~
~And the cookies are done! Yummy!~
Here's what I baked on Sunday night...
Fruit Cookies (Makes 36-40)
~Yummy!~175g Plain Flour
115g Soft Butter
180g Fine Sugar
1 tbsp Vanilla Essence
1 1/2 tsp Bicarbonate Soda
A Pinch of Salt
1 egg
10 - 12 Dried Apricots (Diced)
Yellow Raisins (About a handful)
6 - 8 Red Glazed Cherries (Diced)
100g Crushed Cornflakes
Directions:
Pre heat the oven at 175 deg. In a bowl, mix the softened butter and sugar till fluffy with a whisk, before adding in the egg and the vanilla esscence. Mix well then sift in the plain flour with the bicarbonate soda and add in salt. Mix well before stirring in diced fruits, rasins and crushed cornflakes into the mixture. Drop teaspoons of the cookie mixture (about 8 cm apart) onto a baking tray lined with a sheet of lightly greased baking paper. Bake till cookies are golden brown. Remove immediately from the baking tray and place onto a rack to cool.
